David Graham - Natural High

David Graham’s Natural High School Programme has been tremendously successful. It has now visited well over 4000 schools seeing more than 1.5 million students.

The Natural High Presentation is an independent and totally unique programme that works closely with many different organisations promoting a healthy lifestyle. This interactive presentation was co-written and is presented by talented singer/songwriter David Graham. The presentation is aimed at years 5, 6, 7 & 8 (S1 Scotland) in Primary, Middle and Secondary Schools encompassing ages 8 – 13. David performs his trademark song, ‘Natural High’ which forms the basis of the whole presentation encouraging the use of talents to get a Natural High. The students have the opportunity to interact using their own individual talents & skills to join in with three competitions, MIND, SPORTS & FAME all based around the lyrics in the healthy lifestyles song. Everyone has the chance to join in the performance, even teachers and guests, proving that positive healthy alternative highs can be found without resorting to ‘fake highs’ associated with the various different forms of anti-social behaviour.

The Natural High Programme supports the ongoing work of Teachers, Police Officers, Drug Action Teams, Health Education, Local Councils/Government Departments, Crime Prevention Panels, Community Safety Partnerships, Charities and many other organisations promoting healthy lifestyle messages or offering support to young people.

The whole ethos of the Natural High Programme is about education and citizenship; educating for life; being given the choice and taking the right one, supporting the National Healthy Schools Status. A popular singer/songwriter & positive role model such as David Graham strongly enforces peer education and gives a serious subject ‘street credibility’ without the feeling of a lecture. The presentation lasts for approximately 75 minutes and links in well with the Personal Health, Social Education & Citizenship activities within the National Curriculum.
