Sad News About Mrs Ellwand
21st October 2020
Dear Parents and Carers
It is with great sadness that I am writing this letter to you all today.
During yesterday morning I heard the news that a former teacher at Hilbre, Mrs Anne Ellwand, had passed away. Anne was a very warm, caring, compassionate and kind colleague who had worked in our English Department for six years. It was only this past summer that Anne left Hilbre to begin a new chapter in her life at another school in Liverpool.
I have spoken with David her husband and he told me how happy she was in her new job and how fond her memories were of her friends and colleagues at Hilbre. He also spoke passionately about Anne’s care of and for the children she taught, particularly those in her form group.
Anne had not been unwell and so her sudden loss is even harder to comprehend. As a school we will be organising for a book of condolences to be opened. In these difficult times we will be opening the book online so that staff, parents and students can add their messages into it. The book will then be printed and given to Anne’s family.
Whilst speaking with Anne’s husband he spoke of their love of nature so as a lasting tribute we will also be planting a tree as a way to remember Anne and all the positive work she did with so many of our students.
Anne will be deeply missed by so many of us in our Hilbre Community. Our thoughts and prayers go to David her husband, her children, wider family and friends.
With my deepest sympathy.
Mr M Bellamy
