Return to School Information

Dear Parent/Carer,
You will be aware that yesterday, it was announced that from 8th March, there will be a full return to school for students, with the expectation that the week beginning 8th March will be used by schools to bring students in to school, initially for Covid19 testing purposes, followed by a full ‘normal’ timetable for all students testing negative.
I assure you that we are currently considering the best options to ensure that in the week beginning 8th March, we are able to test all Hilbre students to ensure they are Covid19 free, before engaging in full-time learning within the school premises.
Over the week, we will be introducing a phased return to school, as follows:

It is clear that students are keen to be back in school and resuming face-to-face learning in the classroom. May I take this opportunity to politely remind parents/carers that attendance back in school from the designated date, is compulsory.
You are aware that Hilbre students are currently preparing for, or are currently engaged in assessments. The arrangements for assessments have had to be altered slightly, to ensure that they are not disrupted by the return to school.  The details of the Spring Term Assessment Week will be shared with you in a separate communication.
In these current times of Covid19 and the uncertainty around Government and Ofqual expectations for the grading of students, it is vitally important that our students prepare fully and give their best in their tests. Learning has continued throughout lockdown and it is important this is reflected through high quality student performance in their assessments.
As we finalise our plans, we are careful to track and follow advice and action from the Government and the Local Authority. We had a highly successful return to school last September, with a full Risk Assessment ensuring the wellbeing and safety of our students. As you would expect, we are reviewing our practices to ensure the best care and support around our young people, upon their return to school.
We will communicate with you further, as plans for the return are finalised.
It will be good to see everyone back at Hilbre High School very soon.
Yours faithfully,

Mark Bellamy
