Mia Gibbons Veterinary Success

Congratulations to Year 12 student Mia Gibbons who has successfully gained a place at the Royal Veterinary College Summer School (sponsored by The Sutton Trust). Earlier this year she had to complete a competitive application for one of the 50 places on offer and is really excited to now have a place. Mia is passionate about horses and is hoping to study veterinary science at university and this is an amazing opportunity for her to gain practical, hands on experience in the field of veterinary science.

The summer school runs from Monday 25 July – Friday 29 July with a virtual launch on Friday 22 July and includes a full programme of practical demonstrations; Q&A with world-leading researchers and hands-on experiences in labs and with animals. During the 5 days she will get the opportunity to meet current RVC students and professionals working in a range of animal science careers.

The Summer School is free of charge and only open to students who attend non-selective state schools and meet a number of other widening participation eligibility criteria such as being the first in the family to go to university.

We wish her good luck and can’t wait to hear all about it in September.

Mia has also recently been accepted onto the University of Liverpool Destination Vets summer school which is a three day widening participation residential summer school for Year 12 students. It will take place at the University of Liverpool between Tuesday 5th and Thursday 7th July 2022, and will include a trip to the Institute of Veterinary Science campus, Leahurst.Mia has also recently been accepted onto the University of Liverpool Destination Vets summer school which is a three day widening participation residential summer school for Year 12 students.
