Sixth Form Life

We recognise that it is important that students are successful academically and also given the opportunities that will enable them to reach their potential and follow their chosen career. We have high expectations of students regarding progress, attendance, punctuality and effective use of their personal study time. We have a dedicated supervised Directed Study Area where students are timetabled to complete independent study.

Students are afforded many wider opportunities to develop their leadership and team-building skills including The Duke of Edinburgh Gold award, Volunteering abroad, Subject Peer Mentoring, and Work Experience. Our students are actively involved in fund-raising activities for nominated charities and regularly collect donations for our local Food Bank. The Student Leadership Team arrange wellbeing and socialising activities and encourage students to be involved with sporting, drama and music events and of course the Sixth Form Prom! They have also organised debates, inviting local Members of Parliament to a Question Time event. We regularly arrange field trips and visits abroad to destinations including New York, Poland, Iceland and South Africa. We pride ourselves in developing all round students and believe that through the care, guidance and support we provide, each student will flourish during their time in Hilbre Sixth Form.
